"The Heroe's Quest" by Ron McVan
I draw my strength from an ageless spring Through blood and long tradition - On
mountains high in azure sky My Gods direct my mission.
I heed the words of Wotan well As he leads me
on my task, And a thousand voices from an age unknown Ring down from a mystic past.
And I long to reach
Valhalla, And I yearn for the days of glory, And I clutch that life of greatness - As in legend, fame and story.
There's a swelling in my spirit - There's a time for do or die; I'll know it when I hear it
- It's as clear as Wotan's eye.
Life is just a schoolroom Until our final day; And who are
we to question The Laws of Nature's Way?
To thyself be true, and Family, too, For my race I pledge
my all; And when life's toil has run me hard I'll still be standing tall.
It's the mystery
of the blood, they say, The spirit of our kind - That binds us in this mortal clay And charts the course through
time.
Many fight for freedom, Though never are they free; But I fight to make my people proud - The
best that I can be. A striving to the higher self - The best that I can be.
And I long to reach Valhalla,
And I yearn for the days of glory, And I clutch that life of greatness - As in legend, fame and story.
